Common questions….

eCourse link & info

The Basic RiderCourse (BRC), 3-Wheel Basic RiderCourse (3WBRC) and the Basic RiderCourse 2 (BRC2) all REQUIRE the completion of the correct online eCourse as part of the licensing (roadtest waiver) course. The eCourse information is critical to a student’s ability to be successful in the overall course. Students not familiar with the concepts, terminology and use of controls (as presented in the eVourse) will be at a serious disadvantage during the riding portion and may be counseled out (asked to leave, no refund, no rescheduling).

Not completing the CORRECT eCourse will prevent you from receiving your class Completion Card which is REQUIRED by DMV in order to upgrade your drivers license to include motorcycling.

YOU MUST USE THE LINK PROVIDED by HVCC or Capital Area Rider Training. No other link to any eCourse can/will be accepted, and any payments made to use an eCourse cannot/will not be reimbursed.

The eCourse is to be completed during the 30 days prior to your on-site class at HVCC. HVCC emails the link and instructions approximately 20-25 days before your class. If you are a late registrant or just haven’t received the link, you can email info@518rider.com or send a text to 518-857-2099. Be sure to provide the course you are taking (BRC, 3WBRC, or BRC2), the date of your class, and provide your email address.

LATE REGISTRANTS – you may have very limited time to complete the eCourse. If unable to complete it, do as much as you can and still attend the class. Very late registrants may be given some additional time to complete the eCourse (we withhold your Completion Card).

Motorcycle “try on”

If you are petite/short or have an inseam less than 28″, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you arrange to sit on one of our training bikes.

We use a variety of motorcycles, most have fairly low seat heights and are ideal for the vast majority of students. We have a limited number of very low seat height motorcycles that we reserve for students that have contacted CART and been confirmed to require the very low seat height. Any student arriving to class that cannot comfortably straddle (both feet flat on the ground) an available motorcycle will be asked to leave, and there are no refunds and no rescheduling allowed.

So,
1) short students that have had a “try on” at least 1 full week before their class starts, but cannot comfortably straddle (flat feet) any of our training bikes, will be issued a refund. We hope that we can offer even lower seats in the future.
2) short students that have had a “try on” and were deemed to need a one of our very low seat bikes, will have a Honda Rebel 250 reserved for their use in class.
3) short riders that have NOT had a “try on” will be assigned a Honda Rebel 250 IF ONE IS AVAILABLE. If one is not available, and the student is unable to comfortably straddle (flat feet) an available training bike, that student will not be able to continue and will not be allowed to reschedule or be issued a refund.

TO SCHEDULE A MOTORCYCLE “TRY ON”, email info@518rider.com or text/call 518-857-2099. Please do so as early before your scheduled class as possible so we can schedule the “try on”.
